Beachcombing is a popular activity at John U. Lloyd Beach State Park, and reveals many different forms of life in the seaweed, which is purposely left on the shoreline to allow these organisms to survive. This park is a barrier island located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. The Sea Turtle Awareness Program offers turtle walks along the shore of this park from May to July.
The Secret Woods Nature Center exhibits an interpretative display of the area's flora and fauna. The center also features an 1,800 square foot assembly hall, accommodating up to 135 people, which is available to rent for corporate functions or parties. Educational classes and workshops are also offered, covering topics such as landscape design, birdwatching and yoga. The center is open year-round from 8am-6pm daily.
